PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary tiller capable of being smoothly and quickly lowered without being affected by slide resistance of a sensor wire. SOLUTION: A controlling lever 22b of a position controlling valve 6 is formed to move and contact to lifting side by a position lever 31, the front end of an inner wire 37b of a sensor wire 37 detecting vertical swing of a rear cover 34 is connected with a control lever 22b, the front end of an outer wire 37a is formed to be position-controlled by an auto-lever 32 to set plowing depth, the front end of the inner wire 37b is allowed to move to the connecting position between the control lever 22b and the front end of the inner wire 37b, an inner wire adaptable mechanism 38 contacts to prevent movement of the front end to rear more than a predetermined position, and the front end of the inner wire 37b is energized to be pulled forward by resilient means 43, 54.
