The invention relates to a cylinder (1) for receiving a printing form, which (1) can rotate about its main axis of symmetry during printing and which (1) has at least one first sleeve (20) that contains carbon fiber-reinforced plastic. The invention is characterized in that the majority of carbon fibers in the plastic are oriented essentially parallel to the main axis of symmetry of the cylinder (1). The invention also relates to production methods for producing the inventive cylinder.
