The method involves affixing fastening bolts at a doorjamb reinforcement, and fixing a side wall frame to the reinforcement. The frame and a doorjamb intended for a vehicle door are aligned. A working area of the bolts that serves as horizontal and/or vertical contact surfaces is machined to position door hinges in the vehicle, such that the vehicle door or flap is attached to the doorjamb. An independent claim is also included for a fastening bolt for attaching a vehicle door to a doorjamb.
