PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle surrounding monitoring system that can reduce image recognition processing time and increase a recognition rate. SOLUTION: The vehicle surrounding monitoring system comprises a position detecting means 12 for detecting a vehicle position, an imaging means 18 mounted in a predetermined position on the vehicle to image vehicle surroundings, an image processing means 10 for recognizing stationary objects from pickup images from the imaging means 18, assist information creating means 10 for creating assist information for the next and subsequence stationary object recognition according to the recognition results of the image processing means 10, and storing means 30 for storing the created assist information.
