A fuel cell system comprising a reformer (12) for receiving supply of a hydrogen carbide fuel and producing a reformed gas containing hydrogen by reforming reaction, a fuel cell (14) for receiving supply of the reformed gas at the anode and supply of a cathode gas containing oxygen at the cathode and generating electric power, a cathode-off gas passage (20) for supplying the cathode-off gas discharged from the cathode to the reformer (12), and a bypass passage (24) for directly supplying the cathode gas to the reformer (12) while bypassing the cathode during the warm-up of the system.
