FUEL CELL SYSTEM AND METHOD OF GENERATING ELECTRIC POWER IN FUEL CELL SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell system for generating electric power by supplying liquid fuel to a membrane electrode assembly, wherein the membrane electrode assembly is prevented from exposing from the liquid fuel and drying due to vaporization of the liquid fuel and so on during stoppage of the above-mentioned fuel cell system and thus restarting of the above-mentioned fuel cell system is stabilized.

SOLUTION: In case that it is detected whether the liquid fuel reaches the whole surface of the membrane electrode assembly on the side of an anode, and then it is determined that the liquid fuel does not reach it based on the detected result, the liquid fuel is supplied to the anode using secondary electric power so that the liquid fuel reaches the whole surface of the membrane electrode assembly on the side of the anode, and electric power generation by the fuel cell body is started to enable to produce electric power after the liquid fuel reaches.
