PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shift lever device in which the rate of the moving stroke of a shift lever to the push/pull stroke of a cable is smaller, having simple construction permitting the setting of the push/pull direction of the cable to the turning direction of the shift lever, as desired. SOLUTION: The shift lever device 1 comprises the shift lever 3 and the cable 6 connected to an automatic transmission. A mounting portion 36a for the cable 6 is provided on the opposite side to the front end side of the shift lever 3 across a first rotating shaft 16 of the shift lever 3. With the turn of the shift lever 3, the cable 6 is pushed/pulled for shifting operation. A connection member 36 turnable around a second rotating shaft 35 has the mounting portion 36a, and a gear mechanism 37 is laid between the shift lever 3 and the connection member 36 for interlocking them with each other.
