PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine which prevents useless consumption of fuel by efficiently increasing the fuel amount and can early perform the other control such as purge control. SOLUTION: The control device for an internal combustion engine increases the fuel injection amount under a predetermined condition for example after the start of the internal combustion engine, during cooling, in requiring acceleration, or in shifting from neutral to a range D. In the control device, when the fuel injection amount is increased during performing of air-fuel ratio feedback control, the feedback control follows the increment, and the correction corresponding to the increment is performed. When the correction corresponding to the increment is completed, the control device speedily stops the increase of the fuel injection amount. Thus, the increase of the fuel injection amount is not continued more than required, and useless fuel consumption can be suppressed.
