PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems that though breakwaters or detached breakwaters are constructed by piling up riprap or wave dissipating blocks as measures for preventing tidal waves, such measures are not enough to prevent the landing of tidal waves. SOLUTION: In this invention, as shown in the figures, foundation mounds 2 are constructed in parallel with shorelines and in the offing a fixed distance away from shores. An upright bank 1 with a height to be able to cope with expected continuous waves is constructed on each mound. Windows for passing incident waves are opened at the walls of the upright bank to kill about 70% or more of tidal wave energies and achieve the initial-stage purpose. This structure is also available as an artificial fish reef and can promote the food chains and habitat segregation of fishes and shellfishes. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
