PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backhoe having a sediment carrying device, stably installable regardless of the size of the backhoe itself, and capable of improving efficiency of excavation work. SOLUTION: This backhoe is composed of the sediment carrying device having a backhoe body, a sediment recovering part 7 positioned in its front part and a backward transfer 13 positioned in a side part. The backward transfer part 13 has a sediment force feed mechanism 14 composed of a tapered pipe 14a and a compressor 14b communicating with the sediment recovering part 7. Suction force is generated in one end part 14aa of the tapered pipe 14a, and force feed force is generated in the other end part 14ab, by generating a jet air current in the tapered pipe 14a by using the compressor 14b. When recovering excavation sediment in the sediment recovering part 7, the excavation sediment is sucked in the tapered pipe 14a from one end part 14aa of the tapered pipe 14a of the sediment force feed mechanism 14, and is forcibly fed to the other end part 14ab, to be carried to the rear of the backhoe by a discharge hose 16 communicating with this part.
