PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition having high flame retardance and excellent mechanical strength without generating harmful gas in combustion and to provide an electric wire/cable using the resin composition as an insulator or a sheath of conductor. SOLUTION: The non-halogen flame-retardant resin composition comprises 100 pts. wt. of a base polymer composed of an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer or a composition obtained by mixing the ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer with the other ethylene-based copolymer or a polyolefin so that vinyl acetate content in the base polymer becomes≥50 wt%, 50-300 pts. wt. metal hydroxide and 0.5-50 pts. wt. 1,3,5-triazine derivative.
