<p>A mufti-part abutment for use with an endosseous dental implant includes a first part (11) with a tapered portion (32) at its proximal end adapted to accept a dental restoration and an optional transfer cap (152), a distally-positioned external mufti-lobed or other wrench-engaging portion (35), an inwardly-projecting non-circular bevel (38) extending partly or entirely around the first part (11), connecting the proximal (32) and wrench-engaging portions (35). The first part (11) has an internal through passage (28) with an internal projection or threads (31) or both. The second abutment part (12), a screw, has a proximal region (30A) to engage the internal projection(s) or threads (31) or both of the first part (11), and a threaded shank (29) to engage internal threads in an endosseous dental implant.</p> |
