An audio-visual data system (52) for a mobile telephone (54) having a Bluetooth wireless transceiver (56). The audio-visual data system (52) comprises an audio-visual data signal source (12), operable to generate an audio-visual data signal, an infrared wireless transceiver (66) and data processing means, which in this example is implemented as a computer programme stored within the memory (62) of the mobile telephone (54). The audio-visual data system (52) is operable to receive TV signals via an aerial (16) or to play back pre-recorded television programs or films stored within memory card. A mobile television apparatus (50) comprises an audio-visual data system (52) and a mobile telephone (54).
