摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive and high performance light guide body and a line illumination device by making a scattering pattern forming step by silk-screen printing with a white pigment unnecessary. SOLUTION: A triangular shaped projecting and recessing plane 1b is formed on a rear surface of the light guide body 1 with a specified pitch. The plane 1b is formed with the light guide body 1 when performing an injection molding of the light guide body 1. Incident light from a light incident plane propagates in a main scanning direction (in a longitudinal direction) with the total reflection inside the light guide body and the light arriving at the plane 1b is scattered and totally reflected thereon. The light scattered and totally reflected at the plane 1b is emitted from a light-emitting plane. The light intensity in the main scanning direction is uniformized by making the length of the plane 1b long with increasing the distance from the light incident plane. The position where the light intensity in a sub-scanning direction is maximized, and the distribution characteristics of the light intensity in a sub-scanning direction, can be varied by adjusting an angle between a ridge line of the plane 1b and the sub-scanning direction.
