PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel useful latch device capable of surely preventing the occurrence of damage or locking failure in respective parts, even when the operation end is accidentally operated in a locking state, by putting a latch in a state equal to the locking state without having a large-scale constitution. SOLUTION: When transmitting operation force applied to a grip 62 to the latch 43 via an operation shaft 61 rotating around the axis, a clutch mechanism 7 is interposed between the operation shaft 61 and the latch 43 for switching an interlocking state of transmitting operation of the operation shaft 61 to the latch 43 and an uninterlocked state of not transmitting the operation of the operation shaft 61 to the latch 43.
