A capsule type endoscope (C) capable of providing an excellent image of the inside of a specimen without complicating assembly operation, comprising a lens frame (31) coming into contact with a cover glass (28) covering a CCD (26) formed in a rectangular outer shape and supporting lens members (32) and (33) focusing the image on the CCD (26) and a holder (29) coming into contact with the cover glass (28) and supporting the lens frame (31). A contact part (29c) allowed to come into contact with the outer peripheral parts of the cover glass (28) is formed by extending it from the lower edge part of the holder (29) and the contact part (29c) is brought into contact with the outer peripheral parts of the cover glass (28) to set the lens members (32) and (33) at specified positions relative to the CCD (26).
