摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device equipped with vertical alignment layers in which decomposition or the like hardly occurs even when light with high intensity is used as incident light. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal device has a liquid crystal layer 104 comprising a liquid crystal with negative dielectric anisotropy interposed between a pair of substrates 101, 102. The vertical alignment layers 115, 125 respectively composed of an inorganic material, having a pretilt in a specified azimuth angle direction and showing a vertically aligning property are formed on the liquid crystal layer 104 sides of the pair of substrates 101, 102.
