摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for a breakdown treatment of laver wastes using a microorganism of the genera Cellvibrio and Bacillus. SOLUTION: A Cellvibrio ariakeii W2-17B strain which is a Gram-negative long bacillus producing a light green colony pigment and having≥5 mμlength of cells and is a new species of microorganism belonging to the genus Cellvibrio having a breakdown ability for agar, mannan or the laver wastes and a Bacillus sp. W2-17A strain having actions for accelerating the activity of the Cellvibrio ariakeii W2-17B strain are separated. The W2-17B strain has motility and proliferated in a low-saline at 0.5% concentration in freshwater. The W2-17A strain is a Gram-positive short bacillus without producing the colony pigment, has the motility, breaks down the laver wastes and proliferates even in the freshwater environment.
