A switching matrix for input device for detecting switching states of two or more simultaneously actuated switching elements (4). The switching lines have in each case a series arrange resistor (7.1...7.k) and according to a polling muster, a first input/output line (5n) is designed as an output line with a high potential, a second input/output line (5N) is designed as an input line and each further input lines (5n) are designed as an output line with a low potential of the microcontroller (1). An independent claim is included for a method for detecting switching states.
