<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the designing method of a light guide plate pattern utilizing dithering of a backlight unit for an LCD, wherein the maximum movement distance of each dot pattern is calculated considering the distance between respective dot patterns and the size of each dot pattern on the light guide plate and dithering is performed so that each dot pattern on the light guide plate is formed at random in the range within 60% of the calculated maximum movement distance of each pattern. <P>SOLUTION: The pattern formed on the rear surface of the light guide plate is processed with fine light scattering pattern, the intervals between pitches are changed according to the distance from a light source and dithering is performed in the fixed range of pitches. Thereby, the uneven region of luminance can be canceled since superposition properties of light scattering is superior to that of the conventional product wherein pitches are artificially arranged, a diffusion sheet used for preventing identification of the pattern by naked eyes can be removed, superposition properties at the time when the diffusion sheet is used are further enhanced and a moire defect can be removed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
