PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that a compressor cannot be operated because a compressor magnet is not energized in trying to operate an air conditioner by turning on a main power supply in the case that wiring between switches is removed or the wiring between the switches is broken. SOLUTION: The air conditioner is provided with a refrigerant circulation circuit for circulating a discharged refrigerant from the compressor from a condenser to an evaporator, a current detecting means for detecting an operation current of the compressor, a high pressure side refrigerant temperature detecting means for detecting a temperature of the refrigerant on the high pressure side of the refrigerant circulation circuit, a microcomputer for determining the operation state of the compressor from detection results of the current detecting means and the high pressure side refrigerant temperature detecting means, and a driving means for driving the compressor in response to a command of the microcomputer. When a detected temperature of the high pressure side refrigerant temperature detecting means does not change and the detected value of the current detecting means is less than a high-pressure switch actuation detecting current value, the microcomputer determines that the wiring of the driving means of the compressor is broken or disconnected.
