PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device which is capable of improving image quality. SOLUTION: The image forming device comprises a write signal processing circuit 6 including a function with which a waveform of 2^n (meaning 2<SP>n</SP>) gradations can be generated for the unit of one dot by pulse width modulation dividing one dot into (n), and the number of bits of phase data to select a dot position and the number of bits of data to select a pulse width are distributed within (n) bits.
