PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To create a satisfactory dot shape and to create a halftone screen with equal output resolution in a main scanning direction and in a vertical scanning direction and which realizes the dot shape approximate to output equipment in the output equipment with different output resolution in the main scanning direction and in the vertical scanning direction. SOLUTION: Four points of coordinates to be obtained from resolution magnification in the vertical scanning direction, the main scanning direction based on the resolution when the resolution in both scanning directions is equal are connected by a digital straight line obtained using two angles (θ1,θ2) and an area surrounded by the straight line is considered as a shape area of one periodic pattern when the resolution in the main scanning direction and in the vertical scanning direction is changed by the magnification. One periodic pattern of the halftone screen at an optional screen angle when the resolution in the main scanning direction and the vertical scanning direction of the output equipment is different by rearranging a threshold so that thresholds in all the coordinates of the area become continuous, is prepared.
