PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a common excavation method capable of efficiently excavating soil and sand covering a buried article such as remains buried in soil and sand, a dangerous article or the like without destroying the buried article, a common excavation device and a projecting member. SOLUTION: Dry ice grains 22 stored in a hopper 14 are brought to the state, in which a spray gun 50 is supplied with the dry ice grains 22 through a dry-ice supply system 15, by compressed air fed from a compressor 16. Pin-shaped projecting sections being integrally formed to a spray nozzle 52 for the spray gun 50 under the state and constituting the projecting member 53 are applied on the surfaces of soil and sand G1 as objects to be excavated. The dry ice grains 22 are injected towards damaged sections formed on the surfaces of soil and sand G1 from a jet for the spray nozzle 52 by pulling a trigger for a spray gun body 51, damaging soil and sand G1 by the front end sections of the projecting sections.
