PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose a lock for a sliding door capable of sufficiently protecting the left-right edge sections of an opening window for a strike from a violent destructive action by a drill, a crowbar or the like used by a thief. SOLUTION: The lock for the sliding door has an external case member 3 installed to the external sliding door, an internal case member 13 mounted on the internal sliding door 11 and an internal lock mechanism 14 being fitted to the internal case member 13 and having a hook piece. In the lock for the sliding door, a reinforcing plate body for the strike is interiorly finished fixedly into an internal space between the case body 4 of the external case member 3 having the function of a bracket and the strike so as to support the left-right edge sections of the opening window 38 for the strike by left-right leg sections 45c and 45c.
