PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve maintenance and assembly properties of a rear axle structure. SOLUTION: The rear axle structure comprises a drive shaft 2 with its base end side supported by a car body side and with its tip side supported by a bearing mechanism 3, a connecting member for mutually connecting suspension plates 5 respectively mounted to the left/right bearing mechanisms 3, and a brake backing plate 6 fixed to the bearing mechanism near the tip of the drive shaft 2 for holding a brake member 12. The brake backing plate 6, the bearing mechanism 3, and suspension plate 5 are overlapped from the outside to the inside of a vehicle in the order of the brake backing plate 6, the bearing mechanism 3, and suspension plate 5 and fastened by a bolt 7 from the outside of the vehicle.
