SURFACE COVERING MATERIAL FOR CIVIL ENGINEERING WORKS, AND ITS METHOD OF MANUFACTURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface covering material for civil engineering works having the weed removing effect and adequate water permeability/water retaining function and also to beautify the scenery and conserve the environment by using blast furnace slag but without using alkaline stimulator.

SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method for the surface covering material stated above, a cement-based solidifying material of 8 to 12 mass portion is added to the mixed member 100 comprising 40 to 90 mass portion of the blast furnace slag heated to 200°C or more and to the grading of no more than 3 mm, and natural aggregate of 10 to 60 mass portion with the grading of no more than 2.5 mm, and it is preferable to use a cement-based solidifying material having an effect of restricting the elution of chromate.
