PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary type display device capable of easily obtaining optional view angle characteristic and being inexpensively manufactured without complicating the structure of a rotary display part itself, and a driving method for the rotary type display device. SOLUTION: Display data for displaying black in the range of each rotational angleθo where a rotational angleθis from -π/4(-45°) to -π/9(-20°) and fromπ/9(20°) toπ/4(45°) is stored in advance in a projection type display device, and display data for displaying a picture only in the range of a rotational angleθ1 where the rotational angleθis from -π/9(-20°) toπ/9(20°) is stored in advance therein.
