PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cover gas supply method for molten metal capable of preventing oxidation and combustion of molten metal and reducing the cost. SOLUTION: The cover gas including phloroketone is injected into a melting furnace main body 2 from a cover gas introducing part 3, and its injection speed is 20-100 m/s. Whereby the cover gas flows at a high speed in the melting furnace main body 2 even when a flow rate of the cover gas is low, and a surface of molten metal M is instantaneously covered by phloroketone. As a result, the oxidation and combustion of molten metal M can be prevented. Accordingly, the flow rate of cover gas can be reduced, and the cost necessary for supplying phloroketone and a carrier gas can be reduced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
