METHOD FOR PRODUCING PHENYLENEDIAMINE DERIVATIVE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a derivative of phenylenediamine useful as an antioxidant free from dissipation by evaporation at a temperature≥150°C or thermal deterioration, generally excluding mono substituted derivative of styrene in production of the phenylenediamine derivative by reaction of a N, N'-diphenyl-1,4-phenylenediamine and a styrene derivative wherein the reaction product generally comprises di- or poly-substituted styrene derivative. SOLUTION: The phenylenediamine derivative expressed by general formula B is obtained by reacting N,N'-diphenyl-1, 4-phenylenediamine and the styrene derivative represented by general formula A in the presence of a proton acid catalyst (In general formula A, R1or R2are each H, a lower alkyl or a lower alkoxy, R3or R5are each H, or a methyl group, in general formula B, R1, R2or R3are each the same to the above-scribed, R4is a methyl or ethyl group, n and m are each 1, 2 or 3.).
