PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-layer coating film formation method useful for coating of a large size object. SOLUTION: In the multi-layer coating film formation method, an object to be coated is immersed in an electro-deposition bath and is subjected to electro-deposition coating and after cured, a top coat coating composition is directly coated and cured without applying middle coat. In the multi-layer coating film formation method, the object to be coated is not a completed product but respective constitution parts and the electro-deposition bath is constituted by a plurality of baths. The respective baths are constituted by the electro-deposition coating having different color. After the constitution parts subjected to electro-deposition coating in the respective electro-deposition baths is assembled to the completed product, the top coat is applied.
