The railway track bed renovation machine has a ballast lifting chain (20) and foundation lifting chain (40) for removing old foundation protecting material. A mixer (60) produces new foundation protecting material and a conveyor (61) lays this, after which new ballast is laid. A vibrating sieve (50) treats the old foundation protecting material which is re-used in preparing the new material.
