<p>In a display device (30) a character code input unit (15) outputs character code information inputted from outside, to a font conversion unit (17) and a speech synthesis unit (19). The font conversion unit (17) converts an inputted character code to a corresponding font, sends it to display drive units (12, 13) via a video signal input unit (14), and causes a display unit (1a) to display it. On the other hand, the speech synthesis unit (19) converts the inputted character code to corresponding speech data, sends it to a speech device drive unit (21), and causes a speech device (2) to output the speech. Thus, it is possible to realize a user-friendly display device which is used as a single device while most part of the system function depends on an external device.</p> |
