There is provided a technique for giving a subordinate attribute while keeping the main feature of an original image. An image accumulation unit stores a plurality of images which are classified into categories according to age and sex. A correlation unit selects a category according to the inputted category. The correlation unit correlates the input image with images contained in the selected category and selects the image having the greatest similarity. A synthesis unit combines the input image and the selected image by performing weighted mean, generates and outputs the combined image.
