PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pre-load applying device for a bearing, properly securing pre-load amount in assembling and machining a bearing. SOLUTION: In this pre-load applying device for a bearing, when a caulking die 26a of an oscillating type caulking device 21 is gradually lowered to start caulking, pre-load is applied to a duplex bearing 10 from a certain point t0 of time so that turning torque T varies. When the variation width reaches a preset predetermined width▵, the pre-load is determined to reach the predetermined value, and caulking is ended.
