PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method capable of stably obtaining a chrome plated component maintaining excellent corrosion resistance even in the case it undergoes heat history, with high efficiency. SOLUTION: Using a chrome plating bath containing organic sulfonic acid, plating is conducted by application of a pulse current to thereby form a crack-free lower chrome layer S<SB>1</SB>on a steel substrate M. The lower chrome layer has a compressive residual stress of 100 MPa or more, desirably, 150 MPa or more. Subsequently, in the same plating bath by application of a direct current, electroplating is performed to form a cracked upper chrome layer S<SB>2</SB>on the lower chrome layer S<SB>1</SB>.
