Washer-extractors (41) comprise, particularly when thy are placed near a dividing wall (43) between a clean area (44) and dirty area (42), a number o f holes (13) in the baskets (12, 14). This type of opening must be located in the cylindrical lateral area of the drums (12, 14) whereby requiring a compl ex door for closing this opening in the lateral area of the drums (12, 14). The inventive washer-extractor (41) comprises only a single front opening (13) o f the drums (12, 14). This opening is used for loading as well as unloading. T he openings (13, 15) can be closed by a door (46). The door (46) can be separat ed from the drums (12, 14). In addition, the door (46) does not turn with the drums when the inner drum (12) is rotationally driven for washing and spinni ng the laundry. A washer-extractor (41) of this type is characterized by its simple design and by a reliable sealing effected by the door (46) and, in particular, when the washer-extractor (41) is placed in the dividing wall (4 3).
