<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new catalyst for producing synthetic gases contributing to drastic reduction in size of a reactor and achieving improvement in energy efficiency, and to provide a method of producing the synthetic gases using the catalyst. <P>SOLUTION: This catalyst for producing the synthetic gases has a carrier and a metal belonging to group VIII carried by this carrier, the carrier has a porous body which forms the base material of the carrier and a film body coated on this porous body, and the film body contains the first, second and third components. The first component is an oxide of at least one kind of alkaline earth metals selected from the group of magnesium (Mg), calcium (Ca), strontium (Sr) and barium (Ba). The second component is an oxide of at least one sort of an element selected from the group of scandium (Sc), yttrium (Y) and lanthanide, and the third component is composed primarily of zirconia or a material having zirconia and having the nature of a solid electrolyte. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
