<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer driver selecting a proper printer and requiring a print process, suppressing a load on a network, and having high cost effectiveness. <P>SOLUTION: This printer driver displays a first dialog (S100), receives an IP address and a port name of the printer (S101, S102), displays a second dialog (S106), and receives selection of a function supported by the printer (S107). The printer driver generates a function mask showing the selected function, combines it with the port name to generate a connection port name (S110), and registers a connection port (S111).
