<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal halide discharge lamp having a temperature gradient, electric property, and light emitting property of arc nearly equivalent to a metal halide discharge lamp filled with mercury, and to provide a metal halide discharge lamp lighting device and a lighting system using it. <P>SOLUTION: The metal halide discharge lamp is equipped with a refractory and translucent airtight container 1, a pair of electrodes 2 sealed to the airtight container, and a discharge medium which is filled in the airtight container containing a first halide, a second halide, a third halide, and a rare gas, and in which the first halide is a metal halide for performing main light emission as a lamp, the second halide is a metal halide having a high vapor pressure and mainly determines lamp voltage, and a third halide contains cesium (Cs) halide, and mercury is not filled substantially. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
