PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a directional coupler capable of suppressing variations in a coupling amount, without increasing the time for manufacturing and the manufacturing cost, and to provide a manufacturing method therefor. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of the directional coupler, comprising a double ridge waveguide 4 and a single ridge waveguide 1 electromagnetically coupled with the waveguide 4 via coupling holes 8 and including the adjustment of the directional coupler, includes a coupling amount measurement step of measuring the coupling amount of the directional coupler; and a coupling amount adjustment step of adjusting the coupling amount by adhering a conductive tape 3 to the surface of ridges 2, provided to a guide wall in the single-ridge waveguide 1 of the directional coupler, on the basis of the coupling amount measured for the directional coupler.
