PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk player capable of driving a spindle motor by detecting noise or vibration generated during rising/falling at the high-speed rotation time of the spindle motor without using any sensors to discover an optimal motor driving current value. SOLUTION: Low-speed rotation and high-speed rotation are alternately repeated on a reference optical disk 1 by a rotation control means 72, the peak/bottom level of an RF signal from an optical pickup 3 is monitored, and the changing amount of the amplitude of the RF signal level is extracted by an amplitude changing amount extracting means 73. When the extracted amplitude changing amount is determined to exceed a prescribed value by a amplitude changing amount determining means 74, a motor driving current value is gradually reduced by a current control means 75. When the amplitude changing amount is determined to be within the prescribed value, the motor driving current value of this time is stored as an initially adjusted motor driving current value (optimal motor driving current value) in a memory 6 by a storage processing means 76.
