摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass substrate for a magnetic disk in which the reduction of manufacturing cost through shortening of machining time and improvement of a yield are enabled and surface quality of a glass substrate can be improved and which is suitable for the formation of high density information recording, and to provide a magnetic disk. SOLUTION: A manufacturing method of a glass substrate for magnetic disk has a process in which grinding of a glass disk main surface is performed by moving a grinding surface plate which fixes a grinding wheel and the glass disk relatively, while pushing the surface plate against the glass disk and supplying grinding liquid. In the grinding process, grinding is performed while supplying grinding liquid containing particles of a particle size smaller than arithmetic mean surface roughness before grinding of the glass disk main surface. The particles contained in the grinding liquid are glass particles of grinding waste produced in association with the grinding.
