PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lying type snow melting device which has no need to be buried in the ground, reduces the running cost, prevents a falling accident caused by a slip of a foot, and excels in durability and storing property. SOLUTION: The lying type snow melting device comprises a plurality of heating elements 1, a net 3 or a porous body laid on the heating element 1, and frame members 4, 5 fitted to the periphery. The snow melting device capable of being used by placing it on the ground consumes less quantity of heat for melting the snow and reduces the running cost because the snow is melted directly by the heating elements. Since the net or the porous body is laid on the uppermost face (layer) of the snow melting device, the falling accidents like stumbling over the heating elements are reduced.
