PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a construction method for a tunnel with a large cross section constructing the tunnel with the large cross section capable of making a rectangular propulsive pipe as an earth retaining and forming a certain cut-off structure between the arranged rectangular propulsive pipes to install a plurality of rectangular propulsive pipes. SOLUTION: A lining body is constituted of a preceding propulsive pipe installation process installing the rectangular propulsive pipe 3 in the ground while developing an excavated hole for the propulsive pipe equipped with a widening section 81 by using an excavator 1 projecting a ground cutting widening bit 11 to the outline thereof, a backing material injection process injecting a backing material 5 in the widening section 81, a backward moving propulsive installation process installing the rectangular propulsive pipe placed while in parallel with the preceding rectangular propulsive pipe 31 while pulling a bag body 2 into a cutting section 82 by using the excavator 1 projecting the backing material cutting widening bit 12 to the outline thereof to constitute the cutting section 82 by cutting a part of the widening section 81 filled with the backing material 5 and a bag body injection process injecting grout 6 in the bag body 2.
