PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide paper for printing newspaper, having a high bulkiness, a small reduction in paper strength, a high opacity and a high frictional coefficient, and excellent in working property for printing. SOLUTION: This paper for printing the newspaper having 0.20-0.60 dynamic frictional coefficient and≥90 % opacity contains (A) a copolymer having a structural unit derived from≥1 kind of a nonionic monomer having≤20.5 (MPa)<SP>1/2</SP>solubility parameter and a structural unit derived from≥1 kind of an anionic or a cationic monomer, and (B) a surfactant by (A)/(B)=(99/1)-(1/99) (weight ratio) range, and also contains a paper quality-improving agent for papermaking, bringing at least one paper quality-improving effect of any of the following (a), (b) and (c) by 0.1-10 solid portion wt. % based on raw material pulp.
