<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high performance small-sized hydrogen purifying apparatus operated with small energy consumption by realizing a porous membrane having larger permeation of hydrogen and smaller permeation of gases except hydrogen than that of a porous membrane formed by a conventional technology in a method of purifying hydrogen by using the porous membrane and applying the difference of pressure between both sides of the membrane as driving force. <P>SOLUTION: The hydrogen purifying apparatus is formed by using alumina particles (or silica particles) as a porous material to form the porous membrane 5 containing a semiconductor having p-type conductivity and to have a structure in which a raw material gas part 4 is separated from a purified gaseous hydrogen part 6 with the porous membrane 5. As the semiconductor having p-type conductivity, GaAs, AlGaAs or InGaAs doped with carbon or GaN, AlGaN or InGaN doped with magnesium is used. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
