<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer electrolyte fuel cell capable of discharging gas such as air contained in cooling water by shunting a part of the cooling water supplied to a fuel cell body, suppressing the temperature degradation of a unit battery cell located at the ends of the fuel cell body with the shunted cooling water, and humidifying oxidizer gas. <P>SOLUTION: A shunting circuit 13 wherein pressure loss is larger than a cooling water supply passage is provided in a cooling water supply port provided in an upper part of the fuel cell body 1 to shunt a part of cooling water supplied from the cooling water tank 14 through a pump 15 and to discharge the gas such as air contained in the cooling water simultaneously. The cooling water shunted by the shunting circuit 13 is supplied to end plates of the fuel cell body 1 through branch passages 13a, 13b (not shown) of the shunting circuit 13 or supplied to an air humidifier to be circulated, and then to be returned to the cooling water tank 14. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
