PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording/reproducing head which reduces the width of blurred reading and which exhibits a stable reproducing operation, in a narrow track≤100 nm. SOLUTION: A side magnetic shield 41 is made into a laminated structure of soft magnetic layers 32 into which a nonmagnetic separation layer 31 intervenes, and the directions of the magnetization of the soft magnetic layers are directed opposite each other.
