PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an enlarging projection type display device having the high utilization efficiency of light emitted from a light source and yielding a high-luminance projected image having little irregular illuminance. SOLUTION: In the display device, an illumination optical system is constituted of two or more optical devices including an image-formation optical device at a final stage having positive power, and at least one of two or more optical devices is constituted of an afocal optical system arranged to be rotationally eccentric to the optical axis of an irregular luminance reducing means.
